Today is #GivingTuesday and ThanksUSA has joined with thousands of non-profits around the country to celebrate this national movement dedicated to celebrating giving and volunteering.

Together we can support the men and women of the U.S. military by providing their families with the gift of a college scholarship.

I hope everyone had a spectacular 4th of July! This week I’d like to begin with efforts to connect our past, present, and potential ThanksUSA scholarship recipients through outreach opportunities and social networking.  Throughout the year, ThanksUSA hosts many events to raise awareness and funding for the scholarship program.  One of the best ways to promote ThanksUSA during an event is to showcase the successful students that benefit from our mission.

If you are a ThanksUSA scholarship recipient and you would like to be a part of ThanksUSA outreach, I want to hear from you (sherrykoch@thanksusa.org). You may be featured in our Scholarship News blog, appear in a public service announcement, or even represent ThanksUSA at a sporting event or concert. The easiest way for you to stay connected and learn about upcoming events is through our Facebook page.  Visit today and “like” the page to get the latest updates.  Perhaps you have your own idea for ThanksUSA outreach or perhaps some advise for fellow scholarship recipients.  If so, share it on our Facebook wall.

When you explore our Facebook page, you’ll be able to see photos from our past outreach events.  Occasionally, some of our sponsors like to extend special invitations to military families through ThanksUSA.  Last weekend, one of ThanksUSA’s generous sponsors, Goldman Sachs, provided tickets for the July 3rd Yankees game.  ThanksUSA scholar, Shadie Andraos was able to attend the game with a group of friends.  Just how awesome was the experience?  Check out the view from the Goldman Sachs box:
